VelociCoaster
The VelociCoaster opened on June 10, 2021, at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. It features dinosaurs, land and water, loops, high-speed launches, drops, and 12 seconds of airtime.
What was the ride construction like?
Gregory Hall designed the coaster, and Intamin constructed it. It took over two years due to construction stopping for COVID-19. Workers had to demolish a previous ride and clear the land. The coaster is made of steel and metal. It has over 4,700 feet of track and four trains with six cars.
What is the ride experience like?
The VelociCoaster is the fastest and tallest roller coaster in Florida. Riders must be 51 inches tall to ride and use a lap bar to stay in place. Dinosaur sculptures surround riders as they wait to board. It reaches speeds of 70 miles per hour in 2.4 seconds, with the tallest height of 155 feet. It turns riders upside-down four times. The second half of the ride is the fastest and the coaster doesn’t use breaks until the end of the ride.
